Billy Elliot

Simon was the Resident Director of the West End production of Billy Elliot the Musical at the Victoria Palace Theatre from April 2013 until the show closed in April 2016. During this time he worked on the record-breaking live broadcast of the show, which was broadcast to over 500 cinemas across the UK and Ireland, topping the box office charts the week it was released. He is the Associate Director for the current UK & Ireland Tour, working alongside Stephen Daldry’s Associate Julian Webber.

In 2013, before starting work on Billy Elliot, Simon assisted Stella Duffy on the UK Tour and subsequent West End production of Philip Meeks’s Murder, Margaret and Me (previously titled Murder, Marple and Me) starring Janet Prince as Margaret Rutherford. He was also part of The Chaosbaby Project, which was devised and rehearsed by a collective of artists using Open Space.

Simon’s production of William Golding’s classic novel toured the UK in 2011 to great acclaim, leading the company to revive the production the following year.

Simon directed an all-star cast including Anna Chancellor, Les Dennis, Stephen K Amos, David Bedella and La Gateau Chocolat in a West End gala performance to mark World AIDS Day, in aid of Terence Higgins Trust.
